Wouldn't you love a Christmas tree that looked like this? I know I would.
The only problem is, is that the ornaments that I looked at were all for sale at £8 to £10 each!
Now if you add 15 of these ornaments to a tree, not including the cost of the tree itself, that is at least £120 and you haven't even got a full tree! I need to spend £120 on Christmas presents and food, not on a Christmas tree that will still look bare!
It is something to remember as we walk past the beautiful photographs depicting Christmas on magazines, or in our case go to the home of my husband and son's piano teacher.
A little secret though - thank you piano teacher - his tree is beautiful and covered in decorations chosen by him and his mum since childhood. What memories and how special.
So save your bank balance and start banking memories instead. Buy one or two decorations each year, creating memories as you go, and supplement with a box of cheaper baubles, free acorns and hanging chocolates.
A debt free Christmas will be a far happier one in January.
